Abstract
443,456. Wearing - apparel. HILL & CO., Ltd., T. A., and JACKSON, T. R., Newdigate Factory, Russell Street, Notting- ham. Dec. 22, 1934, No. 36776. [Class 141] The waistband of garments, e.g. pants, knickers, drawers, skirts, or the like is formed of inextensible or substantially inextensible material divided transversely at one or more positions, and one or more pieces of elastic is or are connected at or near each of the meeting edges of the division or each division in the band, each elastic piece extending freely over the band at the opposite side of the division, and being connected to the waistband at a suitable distance from the division. As shown, the waistband 2 is divided at the hip portions, and elastic strips 5, 6, are sewn to the meeting edges of each division 4, the strip 5 extending over the outer face of the waistband 2, and the strip 6 over the inner side thereof, each strip 5, 6, being sewn at its opposite end to the waistband at a suitable distance from the division 4. In a modification, the division may be disposed centrally at the front or rear, or at both these positions of the waistband.
