Abstract
442,391. Vehicle bodies. BLACK, W. R., c /o Park Royal Coachworks, Ltd., Abbey Road, Park Royal, London, and NEEDS, A. C., Glaisdale, Simple Marsh Road, Addlestone, Surrey. Nov. 30, 1934, No. 34458. [Classes 103 (iv) and 108 (i)] A wheel arch construction for vehicle body work including spaced pillars and a waist rail comprises a wheel arch secured substantially at its upper part to the lower end of one of the pillars and connected by a tie member parallel to the waist rail to an adjacent pillar, the pillar secured to the top of the wheel arch and the two adjacent pillars being connected together by a stiffening girder structure disposed between the wheel arch and the waist rail. As shown the wheel arch 5 is secured to the pillar 2 and to the pillar 1 by a tie member 6, the pillars 1, 2, 3, the wheel arch 5 and the waist rail 4 being connected together by a girder comprising a member 7 and diagonals 8, 9. A gusset plate 10 may also be secured as shown.
