Abstract

442,106. Inking-apparatus. UNIVERSAL POSTAL FRANKERS, Ltd., and SOPER, H. N., 99, Regent Street, London. Jan. 22, 1935, No. 2097. [Class 100 (ii)] A device for supplying ink to stamp-cancelling, postal-franking, and like machines comprises a hollow perforated container mounted adjacent the inking-roller and adapted to be rotated to cause ink to be discharged through the perforations by centrifugal force. The container d is open at its upper end, and the perforations f are formed in its outer wall, the number of perforations increasing towards the top. The container is carried on a spindle c mounted in a frame a and adapted to be rotated by a handle j. the frame being provided with a foot b for enabling it to be detachably mounted on the cancelling &c. machine. An internal flange m, which, according to the Provisional Specification, may be bevelled, is provided as a protection against overflow when the container is rotated, and a shield k acts to prevent escape of ink in any but the desired direction, a gap in the shield permitting the container to contact with the felt covered inking-roller of the machine. The holes f are preferably countersunk externally and may be connected by grooves to provide for more even application of ink to the inking-roller.
