Abstract
Ores are concentrated by froth flotation by adding to the pulp a collecting agent and a frother, the latter comprising still bottoms obtained from the alcohol stills in the distillation of petroleum fractions. The still bottoms contain hydrocarbons and aliphatic alcohols containing 7-10 carbon atoms. The concentration of a lead ore in which ethyl xanthate is used as the collecting agent is described.
