Abstract
440,762. Resistance coatings and deposits; couplings. INTERNATIONAL RESISTANCE CO., 2100, Arch Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A. March 9, 1935, No. 7452. Addition to 433,047. [Classes 37 and 38 (i)] A rod resistor unit according to the parent Specification has the terminal connection effected by a shell-like coating of conductive material which encases the terminal where it fits the rod and is also interposed between the terminal and resistor material. A conductive coating 12 is applied over the resistance coating 11, the coating 12 comprising graphitic or amorphous carbon and a binder. The terminal 13 is a helical copper conductor merging into a straight portion 15. The terminal abuts against the resistor at 16 and is dipped into a substance similar to the coating 12 forming a further coating 17, the coatings 12, 17 being then baked. The unit is afterwards embedded in moulded insulation, preferably a phenolic condensation product.
