440,704. Suction cleaners. APEX ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURING CO., 1067, East 152nd Street, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.- (Assignees of McCabe, J. J., and Seyfried, A. W.) June 28, 1934, No. 14531/35. Convention date, June 30, 1933. Divided out of 441,060. [Class 8 (i)] An electrically-operated suction cleaner has a motor 120 arranged upon a vertical axis, and a housing 2 which is recessed at the front to provide a concave reflecting surface 127 for a work-illuminating lamp 4 which is secured by a removable guard 3 provided with tongues which engage grooves in the housing. The guard constitutes an unbroken exterior surface of the housing, and has bars defining windows. The housing 2 and casing 1 carry annular washers 24 between which are supported the motor plate 119. The lamp is secured in a socket 130 and has terminals 131 which engage terminals in a plug 133 connected to the strands of the electric cords of the motor circuit or to an independent source.
