[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 7, 1935.] [Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XI] In means for igniting gas burners in which a switch is adapted, on opening the gas cock, to close the primary and secondary circuits of an induction coil and thereby energize a spark-gap for igniting the burner, the switch comprises a fixed insulating disc 5 carrying interconnected spring contacts 20, 21 and 36, 37 opposite spring contacts 11, 12 and 32, 33 on brackets 13, 30 respectively and a rotatable disc 25 on the spindle 3 of the cock 1 having diametrically arranged contacts 27, 27a adapted momentarily to bridge the contacts 11, 20 and 33, 37 or 12, 21 and 32, 36 for closing the circuits. During a quarter turn of the spindle to turn the gas fully on, the disc 25 is held against rotation by a peak 61 of a yoke 58, Fig. 6, engaging one of four equidistant stops 60 on a fixed plate 59 and a spring 55 is stressed by by the rotation of a sleeve 54 connected by a ratchet 53 and spring pawl 51 with a disc 50 fixed on the spindle 3. The sleeve 54 rotates a cam 57 which slides the yoke 58 to release it from the stop 60 at the end of the opening movement of the cock whereupon the disc 25 is rotated by the spring 55 through a quarter turn and the circuits are momentarily completed, the yoke being retracted by the cam so as to engage the next stop 60. On closing the cock, the pawl 51 engages a tooth of the ratchet 53 to re-set the switch. The disc 25 moves always in the same direction. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a cock 79, Fig. 12 (Cancelled), provided with a disc 78 carrying contacts 77, 85 adapted to engage contacts 75, 86 for closing the circuits when the cock is rotated slightly beyond its fully-open position. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
