440,199. Circuits for loud-speakers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and MACFADYEN, K. A., c/o General Electric Co., Ltd., Wembley, Middlesex. June 21, 1934, No. 18303. [Class 40 (iv)] [See also Group XL] A filter for eliminating needle-scratch and other high-frequency disturbances from a loud-speaker circuit is designed to produce less effect upon loud than upon weak sounds. Thus a rejector circuit LC1 which is antiresonant at a high-frequency such as 5000 c/sec. may be shunted by a pair of copperoxide or other rectifiers S1, S2, or other elements which offer a higher impedance to weak than to strong currents. Instead of the series arm L, C1, S1, S2 a shunt arm which offers higher impedance to strong than to weak currents may be used to produce a similar effect; thus, the rectifiers S1, S2 may be omitted and a pair of parallel oppositely connected diodes may be connected in series with the condenser C2.
