[Class 40 (i)] The impulse transmitter of a remote control system comprises a motor-driven interrupter 15 arranged to transmit impulses over the line wires 18, the number of impulses transmitted being determined by the selective operation of one of the relays A1-A5 to mark the bank contacts of a stepping switch C also driven by the interrupter. The selected relay is operated by a corresponding push-button switch over a circuit including the normal contact and wiper .25 of switch C, locks up over contacts of relay B, marks the appropriate contact of the switch C and starts up the motor D of the interrupter 15. Impulses are then transmitted over line wires 18 and switch C is stepped by magnet 20 until wiper 25 engages the marked contact and relay B is energized to release the selected relay and thereby terminate transmission. When the arm 25 is moved, off-normal contacts 33 are closed to start up a resetting motor 31 which drives a disc having a projection adapted to co-operate with a pin on the ratchet wheel and thereby restore the wheel to normal.
