Abstract
439,993. Facing tiles. LEVY, M., 68, Palatine Road, West Didsbury, Manchester. June 26, 1935, No. 24140/34. [Class 87 (i)] Tiles made of a cement-sand mixture are first made non-porous by dipping them in a polymerized linseed oil combined with fossil resin gum and thinned with turpentine; they are then dried naturally for a day, and the front is sprayed with a pigmented oil-modified synthetic resin as a filler. After stoving for 30 minutes at 250‹ F. and cooling, the surface is flatted and sprayed with an undercoat of heatconvertible synthetic resin in a semi-condensation stage and containing a pigment, and the tiles again stoved at 250‹ F. for 30 minutes. A colour composition similar to the undercoat is next applied, dried for 15 minutes, and the tiles again stoved and, when cool, are coated with clear lacquer, preferably a heat convertible synthetic resin lacquer. The tiles are again stoved, cooled, and buffed.
