Abstract
439,904. R÷ntgen-ray apparatus. RADIOLOGIE AKT.-GES., 146, K³rf³rstenstrasse, Berlin. Sept. 15, 1934, No. 26578. Convention date, Sept. 15, 1933. [Class 98 (i)] [See also Group XL] An earthed metal jacket surrounds the part of a R÷ntgen-ray tube where the rays are emitted and is spaced from the tube by a " condenser " consisting of layers of air or other insulation separated by a medium of great dielectric strength. The glass tube 1 is surrounded successively by a layer 4 of lead-rubber, shells 5, 6 of the insulating material sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Pertinax " and outer earthed shells 7, 8 respectively of lead and another metal. The shells 5, 7 are separated by layers of air, and windows W are provided for the rays. The ends of the tube are surrounded by grating- like hoods 10 earthed through the shell 8. A cooler 14 is separated from one hood 10 by an insulating envelope consisting of curved vanes 15 and of an apertured end disc 16 to prevent sparking between the cooler and hood whilst allowing air circulation. Bent tubes may pass through the disc 16 to conduct away at right angles air moving axially of the tube. The window for the rays may be at one end of the tube, the rest of the tube being surrounded by a single hood.
