Abstract
439,167. Shearing. WILLIAMS, J., Bryn Hedydd, Grovesend, and OWEN, E., Corporation Road, Lougher, both in Swansea. May 28, 1934, No. 8803. [Class 83 (iv)] Metal sheet feeds. - A shearing - machine comprises one shearing blade arranged transversely for shearing the transverse edges of a sheet or pack of sheets, and two further blades at right angles thereto for shearing the other edges, pivoted counterpoised guiding members engaging the sheets as they travel on a conveyer from the first blade to the second pair of blades. Sheets supported on a table C abut at their rear ends against a stop D while their front edges are sheared by coacting blades A, A<1>, the sheets then being moved to abut against an adjustable stop E while the rear edges are sheared by the knives A, A<1>. The sheets fall on to a roller H, and then on to a chain conveyer I, and are guided in falling and during their passage by pivoted counterpoised fingers m. Knuckle jointed engaging pieces n may swing clear if an undue local irregularity is encountered. Pegs J on the conveyer engage the rear edges of the sheet. The side edges are engaged by stops K and are sheared by blades B on each side of the conveyer. The width of the sheared sheets is controlled by screwed spindles A<4>. The knives and conveyer are driven through gearing from an electric motor.
