Abstract
438,880. Cables. LONDON ELECTRIC WIRE CO. & SMITHS, Ltd., and ABRAHAM, J. R., 7, Playhouse Yard, Golden Lane, London. March 20, 1934, No. 8704. [Class 36] An overhead conductor comprises a stranded strengthening component and a conducting component, the individual strands of the strengthening component being coated by cementation, electrolytic deposition, spraying or dipping, with a metal or alloy of such a nature that the electrochemical potential between it and the conducting component is relatively small or non-existent. When a copper conducting component is employed, the coating metal may be copper, cobalt, nickel, tin, lead or a copper alloy. The conducting component may comprise strands of circular or sector-shaped cross-section.
