Abstract
438,534. Control of A.C. motors. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, ROBERTS, L., and BALL, R. D., Phoenix Works, Bradford, Yorkshire. June 19, 1934, No. 18120. [Class 38 (iii)] A polyphase electrical installation comprises a polyphase electric motor, a star-delta starter 7, and power factor correcting condensers 1, 2, 3 connected across the terminals of the starter on the motor side thereof so that the condensers are connected in star or in delta directly across the supply mains in parallel with the motor windings 6. The object is to avoid opening the condenser circuit when the starter 7 or the switch 8 is actuated. The condensers are preferably of the paper dielectric type and may be incorporated in a unit 4 directly beside the starter-delta starter or they may be disposed separately or as a unit inside the starter.
