Abstract

438,532. Supporting cables. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. June 15, 1934, Nos. 17796 and 17797. Convention dates, Oct. 30, 1933 and May 8, 1934. [Class 36] A trolley wire suspension device comprises an insulator 1 adapted to be supported by an overhung arm or span wire 2 and which carries a depending eye 5, one or more trolley wire clamps 6 being connected to the eye 5 by a member 7 which engages the eye in such a manner that it can swing in the eye in at least two directions transverse to one another, one of which directions is laterally of the trolley wire. As shown in Fig. 1, the insulator is attached to a span wire 2 by a yoke 4, and the trolley wire 11 is gripped by a single clamp 6 which is pivoted to an intermediate member 7 of inverted U-shape. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the trolley wire 11 is supported by two clamps 6 rotatably mounted on the recessed ends 15 of the intermediate member 7 which is in the form of a rod having a crank 13 at the point where it passes through the eye 5. In a modified construction, vertical play is provided between the clamps 6 and the ends of the intermediate member 7.
