Abstract

438,203. Moulding floors in situ; electric cable conduits. WHEELER, F. H., 39, Victoria Street, Westminster. May 14, 1934, No. 14536. [Class 20 (ii)] In order to provide a recess or chamber in a concrete floor, during casting, for housing a ceiling box &c. or other part of an electrical installation, a hollow core 1 flanged at 2 is secured upon the floor centring 5 as by nails 6, the core being of such a height as to project above the level to which the concrete 7 forming the floor is cast. The core is formed with keying ribs 4 and is closed at its upper end during casting by a removable cover. After the floor is cast and the cover and centring have been removed, the ceiling box 8 with the attached conduits 8<a> is placed in the core, a thin metal plate (not shown) being secured to the open end of the box, after positioning, in order to close the lower end of the core space and to maintain the ceiling box flush with the underside of the floor. Composition 13 is then cast into the core space and above the floor to embed the conduits and, after the composition has set, the sealing plate is removed from the ceiling box.
