Abstract

[Class 38 (i)] The pressure generated by the blowing of a fuseelement 6, Fig. 1, immersed in an arc-quenching liquid causes a blast of the liquid to be directed across a second fuse-element 7 mounted adjacent to an exhaust passage 8, Fig. 3. The two fuse-elements, which may be of cadmium, are connected in series between terminal members 9, 10, 14 in a container 1. The container is mounted in a housing, Fig. 3, comprising an oil tank 15 and a cover 16 with lateral openings 17 through which the cables 19 enter, the ends of the cables being bent over and connected to spring contacts 26 which engage with contact plates 2, 3 on the sides of the container. The container is suspended by a cross-pin 33 from a cap 31 provided with a vent 36.
