Abstract

437,584. Cylinders. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT. - GES., Untert³rkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. May 8, 1935, No. 13609. Convention date, May 8, 1934. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke engine cylinder, two superposed rows of scavenging ports are controlled by the piston so that the air enters first radially through ports e<1> then tangentially through port e<2>. The ports are inclined as shown, the ports e<2> having greater area than the ports e<1> with which they alternate. The piston has an annular depression k<1> or separate depressions in alignment with each port. The overhead exhaust port may be controlled by a poppet valve, a rotary valve a<2> as shown, or a sleeve valve.
