Abstract

An impregnating-composition for electric insulation purposes comprises a non-oxidizing or slightly oxidizing stearin pitch--obtained by controlled distillation of cotton seed--and a synthetic resin insoluble in mineral, but soluble in fatty oils such as castor oil, e.g. synthetic resins made from phthalic anhydride with glycerine and oleic acid or treated phenolformaldehyde or cresol-formaldehyde condensation products. The compositions may contain 1--76 per cent of synthetic resin and castor oil up to 20 per cent may be added to increase tackiness. Examples are given.
