Description

Layered building material made of fibrous webs and synthetic resin mixtures, particularly for electrical insulation purposes. The invention relates to layered building materials from fibrous webs, such as paper, and synthetic resin mixtures as binders, in particular to be used as electrical insulating materials.

For the production of layered electrical insulating materials are already Shellac and phenolic resins have been used as binders for the fibrous webs. These resins can be used to manufacture solid, hard, well-insulating products, which, however, has an insufficient resistance to the penetration of oil lengthways of the fiber layers. They are therefore not quite suitable for use for oil-filled electrical devices such as transformers, brackets and cables, z. B. as an insulating material for high-voltage bushings for. Head on oil transformers or oil switches or for table locking sleeves for oil-filled cal) el.

According to the invention are layered building materials, the sufficient electrical Setting time, but also impermeability to oil in the direction of the layers, obtained when using a binder, which consists of a mixture of shellac with a condensation product of polyhydric alcohols and polybasic acids. Such synthetic resin is advantageously used which is monobasic using Ilit is made of unsaturated acids or their esters and, for example, drying oils' or their fatty acids, natural resin and castor oil.

A particularly advantageous example is a resin made from 125 parts of phthalic anhydride, 681 parts of glycerol, 10 parts of linseed oil fatty acid, 35 parts of resin and 8 parts of castor oil in the following way: The ingredients are quickly heated to about 2501 with stirring, and that The resulting resin is held at 2.1o to 25o ° for 2 hours. The hot, liquid resin is then placed in a kettle equipped with a steam jacket and stirrer. An equal amount by weight of shellac is added while stirring, it being necessary to heat it if necessary in order to keep the mass melted. The lasse is drained into containers as soon as the entire amount of shellac has been stirred in and is ready for use after cooling and solidification. Synthetic resins made from polyhydric alcohols and polybasic acids have already been used to manufacture electrical insulating materials. However, the pure condensation products have the disadvantage that undesired side reactions with organic fibers occur when the heating is necessary. The mixtures of these condensation products and shellac used according to the invention do not have this disadvantage. Such mixtures are already for the production of molding compounds in connection with fillers, such as asbestos, cotton; Wood fiber or lime, but has not yet been used to make layered building materials. It was also not foreseeable that these substances would have a particular resistance to oil penetration along the fiber layers.
