Abstract
435,153. Wireless signalling. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and MEGAW, E. C. S., c /o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Aug. 21, 1934, No. 24135. [Class 40 (v)] A coupling for ultra-high frequency transmission or reception comprises two circuits each formed by two similar parts, each part of one circuit being similarly related to both parts of the other circuit, and a pair of preferably conductive connections, each between one part of one circuit and one part of the other circuit. The Figure shows parallel plate conductors 5, 6, forming the anode oscillating circuit of generating or amplifying valves 1, 2. The generator may be of the type described in Specification 431,599. A transmission line 19, 20 feeds the output and is coupled to the anode oscillating circuit by contacts 23, 24. The holes 21, 22 in the bridge 9 are large enough to prevent reflection and the contacts 23, 24 are formed without sharp angles for the same purpose. The circuit 5, 6 is tuned by the bridge 9 which may be adjusted by the mechanism adjusting the contacts 23, 24 so that the distance of these from the bridge 9 maintains a constant fraction of the distance between the bridge and the anodes which gives satisfactory tuning if the characteristic impedance of conductors 5, 6 is small compared with the impedance of the effective capacity between the anodes of the valves.
