Abstract
434,520. Linings for nozzles of foundry ladles. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Vasterõs, Sweden. March 19, 1935, No. 8559. Convention date, March 23, 1934. Drawings to Specification. [Class 87 (i)] Linings for the fireclay nozzles of foundry ladles, consisting as usual of magnesite, or the oxide of magnesium, chromium, aluminium, or other earthy metal mixed in powder form with a binder such as water glass, are heated to a temperature considerably lower than the burning temperature of the material, which then sinters when the hot metal is poured. The lining may be built into the fireclay nozzle while the latter is being made, and the whole then burnt together. Substances which lower the fusing point of the lining, such as quartz, fluor spar, or alkalies may be added to the magnesite &c. so that the bore of the lining increases by wear and compensates for the reduced head of molten metal during pouring.
