Abstract
433,852. Junction boxes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP NEDERLANDSCHE KABELFABRIEK, Delft, Holland. March 27, 1935, No. 9569. Convention date, March 28, 1934. [Class 38 (i)] A junction box for high-tension oil-filled cables is divided longitudinally into two chambers communicating respectively with the inner and outer oil-filled spaces of the cable. Pressure-equalizing means may be provided to keep the pressures in the chambers equal. The cable 1 with its outer and inner oil spaces 3, 4 is connected by suitable jointing with the end piece 9 of a junction box 13 divided into coaxial chambers by a partition 14. Communication between the chambers and the respective spaces 3, 4 is obtained by way of apertures 10, 22, and closure means 33 for the aperture 10 may be provided. To equalize the pressures in the chambers, a series of flexible diaphragms 16 is mounted between superposed rings and the spaces between the diaphragms are connected so as to constitute two sets of alternating chambers communicating respectively with the two sides of the partition 14.
