Abstract
432,976. Wrapping - machines. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London.-(Haupt, A. H. ; c/o Cape Explosives Works, Ltd., Somerset West, South Africa) Feb. 7, 1934, No. 4086. [Class 94 (i)] Cylindrical articles of plastic or gelatinous material such as blasting explosive, are wrapped by being rotated with the paper in a loop of a travelling band. As shown in the Figures, the cylinder 6 is fed onto the band 1 as indicated in Fig. 1 where it is held as shown in Fig. 2 and rotated by the belt 1 and the driven rollers 2 and 4. A piece of wrapping paper 8, which is preferably of rhomboidal shape, is fed into the loop as shown in Fig. 2 and the article and paper are rotated together until wrapped. Fingers 9 then crimp the protruding ends of the paper and a pair of rods 41 tap down the ends of the paper. The wrapped article is delivered by lowering the supporting roller 5 as shown in Fig. 3. Meanwhile the next section has been extruding through nozzle 21 on to platform 57 and has been cut to length and delivered by the cutters onto rollers 2, 26, as indicated at 55, Fig. 3, ready to drop on to the belt when the roller 26 is revolved into the position shown in Fig. 1.
