Abstract

B., 2, Pall Mall, both in Manchester, (Representatives of HIGGINSON, J.) Feb. 12, 1934, No. 4551. [Class 120 (ii)] In order to decrease the shocks and stresses at the reversals of the traverse of the yarn guides in a yarn-winding machine, the guides d, Fig. 1, are secured, at one or each side of the machine, to a single line or length a of hollow cylindrical wire traversed by a cam. The hollow wire may be in sections joined together by rods b inserted in the adjacent ends of the sections and clamped therein by collars c and the abutting ends of the sections may be split. The yarn guide d may have an extension embracing a rod e, Fig. 3, to prevent any turning of the guide due to the tendency of the hollow wire to twist, or the extension may engage a slotted tube or a channel member for the same purpose. The yarn guide may be formed of a length of wire h, Fig. 9, bent and sprung into a slot f in the hollow wire a with parts h<1> of the wire projecting into and engaging the sides of the bore of the hollow wire so that the guide is held from lateral displacement therein.
