Abstract

325,710. Greg, H. P. March 6, 1929. Rollers and roller heads.-In the production of variegated or parti-coloured yarns, a, number of differently coloured ends r, Fig. 1, are passed through guide eyes b<1> on a traverse bar b to rollers c, c', then through yarn guides d' having eyes, apertures, or divisions mounted on a traverse bar d connected to the bar b by brackets d<2>, then through rollers e, f and g, g<1> to the thread board h and are finally twisted on a spool or bobbin i to produce a cop. The roller e has a number of flats e<1>, Fig. 3, extending over two sections, the flats of one section breaking joint with those of the other. The traverse of the yarns from one to the other of these sections produces a snatch on the individual yarns r which shows itself in the formation of a variegated product.
