[Class 34 (i)] [See also Group IX] A drum for driving a number of packages in a yarn-winding or like machine is made of a single tube or cylinder a having its ends machined internally and boss or plug-like members b with short driving shafts or axles c projecting therefrom are secured in the bosses. As shown the shafts are secured in central holes in the bosses which also have several holes d equally spaced around the central hole for the reception of pegs, pins or rods e for balancing the cylinder ; the pegs may. be drilled, tapped and split so that by inserting screws into the tapped apertures the split parts may be expanded to secure the pegs in the bosses.
