Abstract

432,330. Endless - track vehicles. LAPORTE, A. J., Bordeaux, France. Oct. 31, 1934, No. 31289. [Class 79 (i)] A removable tread pad 3 secured to a link 1 of an endless track by spring hook means is prevented from movement relatively to the link by means of pins 13 engaging sockets in the link. In the construction shown, the link is provided with the usual rib 2 for engaging soft ground and the pad 3 is formed with integral hooks 11 for engaging one side of the link and with spring-actuated hooks 12 for engaging the other side of the link. The hooks 12 are fixed to a slidable rod 5 controlled by a spring 7, and may be withdrawn, to free the pad 3, by means of a tool inserted in a' hole 14. The pad may be formed as a metal box 3 provided with a rubber tread 18 bolted thereto. Modifications are described in which the hooks 11 are (1) slidable and controlled by springs which may be much stronger than the springs 7, and (2) hinged to the pad 3 and controlled by springs.
