Abstract
Partially depolymerized rubber is produced by heating cruderubber in solution in an organic solvent in an autoclave at a temperature well above 100 DEG C., e.g. 255 to 260 DEG C., for a sufficient time to cause the rubber to become and remain a viscous liquid after cooling, and separating the solvent. Suitable solvents are decahydronaphthalene and tetrahydronaphthalene.
