Abstract

430,286. Nonconducting coverings for heat. MUNTERS, C. G., 35, Strandvagen, Stockholm. Sept. 8, 1934, No. 25872. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1933. [Classes 29 and 64 (ii)] In heat insulation for refrigerator cabinets &c., comprising one or more nested containers 7 conforming to the external shape of the space 5 to be insulated and arranged between spaced walls 2, 3, 6 of the cabinet to form a number of air layers, each container is of sufficient rigidity to be self-supporting and the open edges are mounted on a frame 10 of the cabinet &c., at the door side thereof. At least every second of the outer surface of the containers is coated with a bright heat reflecting surface such as aluminium foil, as also are the inner surfaces of the walls 2, 3, 6. The frame 10 consists of a poor heat conductor, such as cork, reinforced with a wood frame 11. Openings 14 in the containers are provided to allow of air displacements, the opening in the inner wall 2 of the cabinet being preferably adjacent to the cold producing apparatus 17 of the cabinet to minimize the introduction of moist air into the insulation. The apparatus 17 is introduced into the cabinet through openings in the containers which are then closed by discs 18. The air layers between the containers are preferably not less than 1À5 cm. in width. In a modification, the outer wall 2 of the cabinet is provided with a cardboard lining coated on its inner side with metallic foil.
