Abstract

429,941. Plug cocks. BARNES, F. J. T., 184, Breakfast Creek Road, Newstead, Brisbane, Australia. Dec. 9, 1933, No. 34665. [Class 135] A tap, for liquids, has a hollow plug 10 turnable in a socket 12 with a lining 17 of rubber, or like resilient material, interposed. When the tap is in the open position, liquid from a pipe 13 passes through holes 20, 15 in the lining and plug and is delivered through the hollow plug. When the tap is in the closed position, a port in the plug, e.g. the port 15, registers with ports 22, 21 in the socket and lining which are open to the atmosphere, so that dripping is avoided. The lining 17 may be secured either to the plug or socket. As shown, the lining has a square head 18 two sides of which are engaged by upstanding lugs 19 on the socket.
