Abstract
428,898. Fastenings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., Cranford Lane, Hayes, Middlesex, and HAGGER, V., 4, The Fairway, East Acton, London. June 22, 1934, No. 18535. [Class 44] A device for securing a cowling to a structure such as an aircraft framework wherein a cotter h on a stud member carried by the cowling enters a non-circular socket c on the structure and is turned through a right angle to engage notches g on the edge of the socket, has the socket member formed with rubber cushions which project to engage the face of the cowling and prevent vibration when the stud member is engaged. The socket comprises an outer oval tube b inturned at its inner longer edges as shown at f and formed to present the notches g, and an inner tube a fitting closely against the tube b at its longer diameter but spaced at the sides to take rubber strips e. Tabs j on the tube a are bent to engage the inner edges of the tube b between the inturned parts f. The strips e are compressed by the cowling m when the cotter h engages the notches g. The tube b is spot welded to the structure d. Specifications 252,061 and 271,673, [both in Class 44], are referred to.
