428,503. Baling-presses. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. May 17, 1934, No. 14963. Convention date, May 23, 1933. [Class 94 (i)] During transfer from a preliminary press to a finishing press the bale is clamped by means of detachable frameworks which retain the bracing plates in position. After the press box 1 has been filled with the material to be baled, e.g. cotton, jute or hemp, the upper bracing plate 7 and cross-head 4 are moved into position on rails 6, 5 respectively and pressure is applied by the ram 3. The hinged side walls are then folded up and the frameworks 12 are applied. These comprise spaced bars 15 on a spindle 16 with connecting members 18, 19, the bars 15 having hooked ends for engaging recesses in the bracing plates 2, 7. The engagement with the recesses in the lower bracing plate is not made until the ram 3 falls, and the bale may then be removed on the rails 6. The frameworks are readily removable after the bale has been further compressed in the finishing press.
