[Class 100 (ii)] Relates to squeegee devices for spreading liquid, semi-liquid, or granular substances over a flat surface by repeated reciprocations of the device, of the type comprising colourspreading members mounted on a carrier adapted to be tilted to bring the members alternately into operative positions, and consists in the provision of a parallel - motion linkage connecting a reciprocable controlling- member with the carrier, the links being so arranged that the initial movement of the controlling-member in either direction effects the tilting of the carrier. As shown applied to multi-colour stencilling-apparatus comprising a conveyer belt 43 passing over a flat bed 44 with which are associated stencilframes, carried by channel bars 45 adapted to be raised and lowered, U-shaped frames 49 each carrying a squeegee carrier 10 are pivoted to rods 46 on which are rollers 47 riding in the bars 45, and are all connected to a reciprocable rod 52 actuated by a pair of levers 59 connected at 60 to the rods 46 and having a pin-and-slot connection with racks 53 reciprocated by pinions 57 such that the carriers 10 are rocked into correct operative position at the commencement of each working stroke. Screws 75 limit the angular movement of the levers 59. Fig. 4 shows a spring-loaded arrangement for the carriers 10, which are attached to slide blocks 68 mounted in the frames 49, springs 74 being interposed between adjustable screws 72 and slides 67 connected to the blocks by arms 70, 71, which allow independent adjustment of the blocks, e.g. by rotating the arm 70. The squeegee blades may be angularly adjustable as described in Specification 423,679.
