426,218. Solidifying carbon dioxide. MAIURI REFRIGERATION PATENTS, Ltd., and MAIURI, G., Bush House, Aldwych, London. Oct. 24, 1933, No. 29485. [Class 8 (ii)] Carbon dioxide is solidified in a mould a to which it is admitted at a pressure above the triple point pressure and a temperature above the liquefaction temperature corresponding to the actual pressure and the temperature is caused to diminish downwards in the mould. As shown multiple moulds are used, side by side, cooled by sectional jackets e<1>, e<2>. e<3> to which liquid ammonia is supplied by a pipe f through a regulating valve, the ammonia rising in each jacket evaporating and overflowing through pipes i, k to the lower jackets, the lowest being under vacuum produced, e.g. by the absorber of a refrigerating machine.
