426,111. Working at specified temperatures. VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE AKT.-GES. ZWEIGNIEDERLASSUNG HEDDERNHEIMER KUPFERWERK, Heddernheim, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Aug. 2, 1934, No. 22572. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1933. Drawings to Specification. [Class 83 (iv)] Cast ingots, billets &c. of copper-tin alloys containing from 6 to 12 per cent of tin are subjected to kneading, extrusion or other plastic shaping at temperatures above the recrystallization temperature of the alloy, viz. from about 500‹ C. to about 650‹ C. to convert the alloy almost completely to the alpha state. The temperature used varies inversely with the tin content. The alloy may subsequently be subjected to cold working or the alloy, previously worked to the extent of 10 to 20 per cent may thereafter be subjected to the plastic shaping process. The alloy may contain deoxidizing agents such as phosphorus, lithium, sodium, silicon, magnesium, beryllium or other alloying elements such as nickel.
