425,957. Gyroscopic apparatus. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc., Manhattan Bridge Plaza, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Carter, L. F., and Dundon, D. C.) Nov. 2, 1934, No. 31560. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1933. [Class 97 (iii)] The driving nozzle or pair of nozzles acting side by side of an air driven directional gyroscope are formed in a member having a fine lateral adjustment relative to the periphery of the rotor. In one form a gyroscope as described in Specification 394,412 is driven by air drawn through a passage in the lower bearing of the vertical gimbal ring 14. The latter carries a bracket 21 branching into two arms 22, 22<1> across which extends a threaded shaft 23. A member 25 carrying two nozzles 2, 2<1> is threaded on the shaft 23 and may be adjusted by means of the slotted end 24, lost motion being taken up by a spring 27. The hollow vertical bearing is connected to the member 25 by a tube 18 having a substantially horizontal swivel connection at the bottom so that it is not distorted by adjustment.
