Abstract
425,674. Cigarette-making machines. BERGER, M., 79B, Obere Dresdner Strasse, Freital, near Dresden, and UNITED CIGARETTE MACHINE CO. AKT.-GES., 48, Zwickauer Strasse, Dresden, Germany. Oct. 25, 1934, No. 30660. [Class 130] In a machine for making filter-tip cigarettes, a continuous rod of tobacco is formed and cut into sections which are moved forward at a greater speed than the rod so that tips may be inserted between the sections. The rod formed in mechanism c is cut by a knife e and the sections are fed through a tube f by fingers g. Tips are supplied by a conveyer k to a wheel i which has bores each containing a tip and are moved successively in front of the tube f, so that a tobacco section and tip are conveyed together on to the wrapping web s by the fingers g. The tips are prepared by a row of devices each comprising knives 18, 19, Fig. 4, which cut strips from a paper web drawn from a roll 3, the knife 18 being actuated by eccentrics 10 and rods 13 working in pivoted sleeves 14 to which the knife 19 is secured. The paper strips are formed in a trough m into a rod which is cut into mouthpiece lengths by the knife o, Fig. 1.
