Abstract

425,251. Advertising on gramophones. COMPARE, M., 3, Via Fratelli Bronzetti, and COMPARE, R., 12, Via Leone Tolstoi, both in Milan, Italy. Dec. 6, 1933, No. 34354. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1932. [Class 3 (i)] [See also Groups XXXVIII and XIX] A stroboscopic device for supervising the speed of a gramophone turntable may be used for advertising. According to the invention, an annular border or crown b which may be cylindrical as shown, or conical, is formed on or attached to the edge of the turntable, a series of uniformly-spaced apertures or serrations being formed in the border. The apertures are illuminated by an intermittent source of light, such as a neon lamp c placed behind or externally to the border b. The spacing of the apertures is so chosen in accordance with the frequency of the current supplied to the lamp that the stroboscopic effect produced in known manner is utilized to indicate when the turntable is running at the required speed. When the device is used for advertising purposes, a plate, which may be transparent, and which bears a design or lettering, is arranged behind the apertures. The letters &c. on the plate are clearly visible when the speed of the turntable is correct. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, described the invention as applicable for supervising the speed of any " revolving elements," and states that a steady light source " eclipsed at regular intervals by an appropriate moving diaphragm " may be used. For advertising, slits in the border of the turntable may be shaped as letters &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
