[Class 65 (ii)] [See also Group XXXI] In a hinge for motorvehicle bonnets, comprising a pair of parts having pivotally interengaging beads, the parts are pivotally mounted by one or more convoluted bead elements with free ends, arranged for co-operation with the beads and secured to fixed supports ; the engaging parts of the bead elements preferably correspond in shape to the bead on one of the hinge parts, which is cut short, and engage with the bead on the other. The invention is shown applied to a hinge of the kind described in Specification 415,193, comprising parts 12, 13 having interengaging curled beads 14, 16 respectively. In the form shown, the inner bead element 16 is cut short, and a curled bead part 22 of an element 20, corresponding in shape with the part 16, engages with the projecting part of the bead 14 to form a pivotal mounting therefor, the element 20 being fixed to a support such as the radiator of the vehicle ; the element 20 is concealed beneath the parts 14, 13 when the bonnet is closed. Axial movement of the hinge parts may be prevented by a flange on the member 20 bent up to cover and overlap the bead part 22, or by a locking element secured to the outer hinge part and having a flange projecting between the end of the inner hinge part and the member 20. In a modification, the bead part 22 is formed separately from its fixing member and is clamped in a socket fixed outside the end of the hinge part 14, the socket then acting as an axial stop. In further modifications, the fixed bead elements may engage with the inner hinge part 16, being similar in shape to the outer part 14, which is cut short.
