Abstract
424,167. Vehicle spring-suspensions. SOC. ANON. A. SAURER, Arbon, Switzerland. Aug. 27, 1934, No. 24610. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1933. [Class 108 (ii)] In vehicle spring-suspensions in which the spring is mounted on the wheel axle in a non-rigid manner the spring is secured to a bridge which embraces the wheel axle and is mounted on its sides so as to pivot in the transverse direction, the bearings being arranged on pins lying parallel to the wheel axle. The axle 3 has welded or secured thereto flanges 11 provided with lateral bosses 12 through bores of which pass tubes 13 held in place by nuts 14. On the tubes 13 are mounted slidably balls or spherical rings 17 engaged by correspondingly shaped bearings 10 and caps 15, the bearings forming parts of arms 9 having a bridge 7 to which the spring is clamped. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the ball bearing is replaced by a rubber ring 31 secured to sleeves 29, 30 mounted in the bearings 10 and on the tubes 13. The tubes 13 may serve to contain the shafts forming part of the pivot and of the operating cam of the brake blocks or shoes 23, 24. The springs 2 are shown as mounted on their inner ends on an equalizing bar 6. Springs 20 connecting the flanges 21 and the arms 9 serve to restore the position of the axle.
