423,699. Distilling bismuth and other metals. ZINNWERKE WILHELMSBURG GES., 5, Neuhoferstrasse, Wilhehnsburg, Harburg, and LEIPELT, K., 3, Vogteistrasse, R÷nnenburg, near Harburg, Germany. April 14, 1934, No. 11355. [Class 82 (i)] In apparatus for separating metals by vacuum distillation, the fusion vessel, the electric furnace for heating the same, and the condensation vessel are arranged within the same vacuum container. The vessel a constructed as an electric furnace and serving as the fusion vessel is covered by a cap d and communicates with the condensing vessel b by a channel e, the whole being enclosed in a vacuum container e. A pipe r for the vessel c leads to a vessel f containing a filter h, and a pipe g leads to the vacuum pump. Outlets i, k, are provided in the vessel f. The apparatus may be used for treating an alloy of copper and bismuth, the latter condensing in the vessel b or for treating " mixed tin " the lead and bismuth therein condensing in the vessel b while the zinc and arsenic will escape and be intercepted by the filter f.
