[Class 94 (i)] Razor blades A, Fig. 3, are attached to wrappers 36 by depositing them thereon so that the outer apertures are engaged by turned up tongues 37, which are then flattened to secure the blades. The blades are fed singly from a pile 35 by a slide 28 in a guide 27 to position A<1>. At this point a gripper 10, having resiliently mounted conical jaws, is depressed by a punch 19 and enters the central perforations of the blade. The grippers are mounted on an intermittently rotating table 9 which is held in correct position during the engagement of a blade by the entry of an abutment 45 on the punch into a corresponding recess in the table. The punch recedes and the grippers rise to their upper position. A series of steps bring the blade to position A<11>, a punch 17 depresses the grippers which are pressed together by abutments 41 so that they release the blade which falls upon the wrapper strip 36 in such a position that the outer perforations are engaged by the turned up tongues 37. The wrapper strip is fed by a drum 7 having projections 8 which turn the tongues 37 upwards into receiving position, blades 38 forcing the strip on to the drum to effect this. After the strip has passed away from the receiving position, the tongues are pressed down by an inclined folder.
