Packeting by wrapping-up.-Relates to machines for wrapping tablets, and of the kind wherein the tablet is partially wrapped in the paper by being forced, with the paper, by a plunger through an aperture, the wrapping being completed by gripping the loose edges of the wrapper and rotating the tablet by means of a rotatable housing. According to the invention, a plurality of radially displaceable, spring-pressed tablet-gripping jaws are mounted on the rotatable housing and are adapted to be forced radially outwards by the introduction of a tablet between them. Waxed paper or other wrapping material is intermittently fed from a roll by feed rollers 7, 8, Fig. 1, the former of which may be thrown out of gear by a hand operated eccentric 64. Knives 16, 17 sever a wrapper from the leading end of the web, which lies beneath a vertical plunger 25. Tablets are contained in a vertical shoot 32, the lowest being allowed to fall by the movement of a two-armed lever, one end of which normally projects into the shoot. A horizontal pusher 35, which may be forked at the forward end 35a to position the tablet, feeds each tablet beneath the plunger 25 and above the wrapper. The plunger descends, a bushing 42 affecting a preliminary enclosure, and leaves the tablet and wrapper within the grip of spring-urged pieces 44 in a rotary holder 43. Gripping jaws 56. Figs. The wrapped tablet is delivered from the machine by the pressure exerted by the following one.
