Abstract

421,473. Boot - making machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and RICKS, F., Belgrave Road, Leicester. June 20, 1933, No. 17518. [Class 17 (i)] Sole-laying.-In a shoe - bottom pressing- machine, the pressing - pad is housed in a container the bottom portions of which are selfadjusting so that the pad is enabled to accommodate itself to the contour of the shoe bottom. The container may be in two parts 51, 53 pivoted together at 55, and may house a pad of the kind described in Specification 408,682. The bottom of the container has rows of projections 57, 59 supported on self-adjusting members of the kind described in Specification 22800 /05, [Class 17], guided for vertical movement and supported by levers 25, 27 for the front and rear pairs respectively, these levers being supported by levers 29 pivoted to a carrier 33 resting on springs 35 in a box 5 pivoted at 7 to a rising and falling frame as described in Specification 216,937, [Class 17 (i)]. The pad is retained in its container by a plate 47. Specification 408,953 also is referred to. According to the Provisional Specification the container may be in three pieces, connected by two pivot pins.
