Abstract

421,167. Fixing flanged rings in sheet metal. RIEKE, T. W., 307, North Van Buren Street, Auburn, and RIEKE METAL PRODUCTS CORPORATION, Auburn, Indiana, U.S.A. Aug. 20, 1934, No. 23968. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] A flanged bung-ring 55 &c. is secured in the flanged orifice 51 of a sheet or barrel end 50 by a ring of dies 37 moved radially inwardly by a cam ring 36 to press and crimp the flange 52 of the sheet underneath the flange of the bung ring. In operation the bung ring with a gasket is located on the lower die with the double flanged plate, as shown, on top, with or without an extra sealing 59, and the dies are moved down to crimp as above. The dies 37 are urged out by springs 31.
