[Class 87 (ii)] In a mould of the kind comprising a metallic frame having a non-metallic insert of sulphur, celluloid, rubber or like material inherently non-adhesive to dough, marzipan, and like plastic material, the frame is provided with an undercut, non-cutting, upper edge defining a recess which receives the non-metallic insert, the upper edge of the latter being covered by the undercut portion of the frame. Fig. 1 shows a sulphur lining 8 in a metal frame 7 with undercut upper edges 10. The sulphur is poured or cast into the frame and shaped by a master die while still plastic. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the master die is inserted first, and the sulphur poured in through the hole 13. In a further modification, the sulphur is cast into mould pockets on the periphery of a rotating wheel. The mould surfaces may be plain or embossed, and the sulphur may be mixed with substances such as graphite, talcum or the like to toughen it.
