Abstract

A lining with radially placed loops or hooks on its inner circumference is inserted in a spinning - centrifuge before spinning and collecting artificial threads. The hooks are <PICT:0420972/IV/1> <PICT:0420972/IV/2> <PICT:0420972/IV/3> <PICT:0420972/IV/4> arranged so as to sub-divide the cake of threads during spinning. They may be moved with respect to the lining or lining-segment which is detachably connected to a base plate. The device facilitates lacing of the cake which may then be treated in the same way as a skein. As shown in Fig. 1, a cake of artificial silk 1 is collected in a spinning-centrifuge 2 containing a liner with radially movable segments 4 carrying hooks 5. As shown in Fig. 2, the liner is removed from the centrifuge, and lacing threads 6 are passed through the hooks 5 which are then drawn outwards carrying the lacing threads through and over the cake, the lacing being completed as shown in Fig. 4. The lacing threads may be passed through the hooks 5 before spinning and in this case as shown in Fig. 6 they are pressed against the wall of the liner-segment.
