Abstract

548,648. Spinning boxes. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. Nov. 11, 1941. No. 14500. Convention date, Jan. 2. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] A spinning box has means for facilitating the removal of the spun cake of yarn or the like therefrom, a bottom member 3 fitting closely against the inner wall at the bottom of the box 1 being placed therein before the commencement of the formation of the cake ; the member 3 has an upright undercut part 5 substantially at its centre and the spun cake is removed by a tool 7 having gripping members 10 which are engaged with the part 5 of the bottom member, a convex or tapered surface 8 on the member guiding the members 10 into engagement with the undercut portion of the part 5. The gripping members may be carried by a handle 9 and a plunger 12 passing through the handle carries a disc 11 engaging the gripping members for causing them to close together. The tool 7 may carry a disc 13 above the gripping members for fitting inside the box and guiding the gripping members into engagement with the part 5.
