[Class 27] Price-changing mechanism for a prepayment electricity meter comprises a drum 3 having axial teeth, the length of which varies from tooth to tooth, the degree of rotation imparted to a pinion 5 by one revolution of the drum thus depending on the number of teeth engaged, which in turn is controlled by the axial position of the pinion. As shown, the drum 3 and a consumption indicator 2 are driven by the rotor 1 of the consumption meter, and the pinion 5, the position of which on the shaft 4 is controlled by a fork 51 coupled with an indicator 8, drives a charge-indicator 7 and the sun wheel 10 of a differential gear 11 through a worm gear 9. The rotor 12 of a constant speed motor operates the other sun wheel 19 through an identical train of mechanism for the introduction of a basic charge, so that the degree of rotation imparted to the prepayment mechanism 22 from the planet carrier through the gear 20, 21 is proportional to the sum of the effects due to the actual consumption and the elapse of time, each modified by a variable factor dependent upon the tariffs in force.
